Museums in Pleinfeld

Museum of Pleinfeld

Museum of local history and brewery

The Pleinfeld Museum of local history was established on the occasion of the 500-years-celebrations of the Pleinfeld community in the Vogteischloss (castle Vogtei). It contains chronicles of Pleinfeld since the Middle Ages, a photo exhibition showing „Old-Pleinfeld“, craftsmen workrooms, a farmers kitchen and working utensils, ploughs, carriages and sleighs, ornamental painted cupboards and old traditional styled clothes, sacral art-objects and a forestry collection as well as two old tower clocks in the stairway. Here you will also find a particular tool for former land surveying, the so called „Reichelbacher distance-meter“. Chief forester Kurt Kreppel (+) has collected the items for the museum over the last past decades.

Meanwhile, the Museum of Local History has been  complemented with the first middle-Franconian museum of brewery.  Max Schreiner (+) a master brewer from Ellingen, has collected many objects from the old brewery tradition during his working life. You will find everything from hops and wooden barrel to flip-top-bottle, all things which once had been necessary to brew Bavarian beer.
